what is dovetail?
Communing around a text has the unique ability to spark conversation, foster debate, and help us reconsider the ways in which we encounter the world and each other.
Dovetail seminars are offered in-person and online. Each seminar is roughly 90 minutes long, focusing on a single author or drawing from a four-seminar syllabus.
Critical reading, critical thinking, and critical discussion have never been more important. An editor might be quick to delete my over use of ‘critical,’ and yet, what I want to emphasize here is the importance of actively engaging with the ways in which we receive and disseminate narrative(s). I am founding Dovetail to create a shared space where we can come together and learn through literature.
In 2017, I quit my start-up job to begin five million more years of school. (That’s me in 2016 studying for the GREs after work. You’ll notice the shiny books and colorful school supplies which every student knows are critical). After receiving my M.A. in Comparative Literature from Columbia, I began the doctoral program in English Literature at Brown. Two children, a global pandemic, and seven years later — I’m almost done!
